Entries are now open for our new Friday Night online race series. The first event sees us trying out our new server with Project CARS 2 running the Ginetta G40 on 3 different tracks over the evening.
Considering we only started this project a little over a week ago, it has been encouraging to see the reaction we have been getting and that gives us hope for the future. We were able to get a BTCC driver up and running in terms of installing software, getting on to the server, competing in a race and being able to stream it via Facebook Live. The videos from that test session have received nearly 2000 hits at the time of writing this!
Over the coming weeks, we will be hosting a number of race events to keep gamers and racing enthusiasts alike from getting too bored. We all like our fix of racing action, but the coronavirus pandemic has kinda put all those season-long plans on hold. Rather than curl up under the duvet and complain, we decided to build a server to host a variety of racing sim software games. Project CARS 2 tends to be the best of the arcade-style sims and is popular among the game community, so that seemed to be the best place to start. rFactor2 and Assetto Corsa are better simulators and we have successfully trialled both games on our server with ease. The web site is now up and (mostly) running, with the ability to publish events on the site and take bookings for each of the events. The good news from your point of view is that the bank have yet to finish opening our bank account, so we have very few options we can use to take your money! Oh, well. We will just have to keep running events for free until we can sort that out lol
Where we go now will depend largely on the response from the great wide world – yep, you!! Don’t be afraid of letting us know what you would like to see available from us and we will do our best to make that happen. In the meantime, have fun, stay safe, don’t be a d!ck
